Mounting the Books

Hi everyone!

This week’s art group was more of the same. We continued to work on our rambling books, and quite a few of us got to mount them onto the boards we are going to hang in the windows. A couple of the group members joined in the project for the first time this week and we helped bring them up to speed with the rest of the team.

Jackie: Making books is one of my favorite art mediums. I’ve been enjoying teaching the process to the group members, working alongside them, and seeing our ideas come to life. I heard the phrase, “I’m not an artist.” a couple of times from the group members and reassuring words from others the past couple weeks. So, it’s really awesome to see the books come together with their individual uniqueness and creativity.

Yemisi: it has been a great time watching everyone’s unique mode of expressing their journey on their pages so far. I watch the team support and attune to one another’s needs, emotionally and hands on help. Everyone brings their uniqueness, and this reminds me of a saying “monotony kills interest, but variety is the spice of life!”

Maybe next week we’ll finish the project. Wait and see…
