Halloween At Red Chair
Every year Cherokee Street hosts a community wide trick-or treat and many of the businesses participate. This year Red Chair joined in by donning our costumes and set out a table covered with a large piece of paper and a bowl of candy. We asked the children to draw on our paper table cloth and many were more than happy to express their inner creativity by writing their names or adding a picture. It was so great to see so many happy faces join in the fun.
Halloween Night
It was a beautiful night with a slight chill to the air. The leaves had turned and the light hitting the tree above the table illuminate our spot with a golden yellow glow.
We started handing out candy at 5:00pm and the flow of children continued almost steady till 7:00pm. There were kids ranging in ages from tiny infants dressed as bumblebees to teens dressed in their favorite marvel characters. There was even an appearance of the cat in the hat with thing 1 and thing 2. We were pleased to say the children were well behaved and very polite. When we asked the kids to write on our table they were so excited to get to express themselves. Each child took their turn waiting patiently to find a space on the table to add their art. Some kiddos when asked if they wanted to draw on the table politely said no thanks. but most were excited to have the opportunity to show their creativity. We had such a good time seeing all the happy kiddos and interacting with the community and the table looked so colorful when we wrapped things up at the end of the night.
The next day Con placed the paper in the window on the door so the community could see their masterpiece.
This project was so much fun!!!
