Earth & Sky
We are three artists who met in an online forum during the magical time of Covid lockdown. One in California [Jen], one in Wales [Sian], one in Missouri [me]. We discovered we could think together about paper and fiber craft, text and texture, ecosystems and ecology. Jen, who lives near the beach in LA, makes her own paper. She dyes it with sand and dirt and natural inks. She talks about connecting in a meaningful way on to the land and its resources and about learning patience with her process. Sian lives in a wild region of Wales where there are mountains and water and lots of sky. Her miniature painted landscapes are microcosms of walking meditations and musings about materials that fold and roll and move.
I was building on the momentum of the Photo Voice project, and, across continents and oceans and over Zoom, we planned a show for the windows at Red Chair. All of these tiny treasures were shipped complete with display supplies and decals for the windows at Red Chair by the artists. I had the pleasure of un-boxing and revealing! The pictures below tell the story of the adventure.
